(Washington,
DC)
– "If the
American public
is fed up with
the
ultra-partisan
politics as
usual in
Washington, then
they should
elect more
centrists – of
both parties –
not fewer of
them," said
Sarah
Chamberlain
Resnick, head of
the RMSP PAC.
"Poll after poll
makes it clear
that voters want
Congress to
focus on an
agenda that
reflects their
values and
priorities. Main
Street and our
centrist
membership are
committed to
working with
fair-minded
members of both
parties to
deliver results
for the American
people."
Connecticut
is considered a
critically
important
battleground in
the November
mid-terms.
Centrist
Republican
Representatives
Nancy Johnson,
Rob Simmons, and
Chris Shays are
in competitive
re-election
fights.
"Contrary to
conventional
wisdom,
Connecticut
isn’t ground
zero in the
battle for
control of the
House and Senate
– Connecticut is
ground zero in
the battle for a
centrist,
pragmatic
majority,"
continued
Resnick.
"Without the
independent
centrist voices
of Nancy
Johnson, Rob
Simmons, and
Chris Shays in
Congress, it
won’t matter
which party is
in control of
the House."
Reps.
Johnson, Simmons
and Shays are
leading
independent
voices in the
U.S. House. All
three have
provided
critical support
for important
bi-partisan
measures. "From
stem cell
research, to
campaign finance
reform, to
ethics and
lobbying reform,
the centrist
Republican
Connecticut
delegation has
been a critical
voice for
common-sense
legislation in
Washington,"
said Resnick.
"Main
Street is
committed to the
re-election of
these three
critical
centrist voices.
Connecticut
voters have the
opportunity to
reject the
politics of
ultra-partisanship
and division, by
re-electing
Reps. Johnson,
Simmons, and
Shays – and we
are confident
they will do
so," concluded
Resnick.
