RMSP PAC Update on Senate and House Races

Alaska Senate Race – Lisa Murkowski (incumbent)

A KTUU poll; surveyed 500 likely voters; has Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R) trailing ex-Gov. Tony Knowles (D) 48-45%. This race is one of the most important for our RMSP candidates and Sen. Murkowski needs all the help she can get. With control of the Senate at stake this race is crucial.

Washington Senate race – George Nethercutt (challenger)

A SurveyUSA automated poll of 636 likely Washington State voters shows Sen. Patty Murray (D) leading challenger Rep. George Nethercutt (R) 57%- 38% with 5% undecided or backing someone else. This seat could likely determine which party controls the Senate, so please try to do all you can to support one of our top candidates for U.S. Senate

New York House Seat (NY-27) – Nancy Naples (open seat)

Assemblyman Brian Higgins (D) has a 5-point lead in the latest poll over Erie County Comptroller Nancy Naples (R). Recently, all three television stations in Buffalo made the decision to remove a false ad from the airwaves by Naples opponent because it was blatantly false. This is an important seat to keeping Republican control of the House and Nancy Naples will be a strong RMSP member, so please try to provide whatever support you can.

Pennsylvania House Seat (PA-13) – Melissa Brown (open seat)

In a recent Keystone poll, Democrat Allyson Schwartz led Republican Melissa Brown by 11 points, 45 percent to 34 percent. This is an open seat where we have an excellent chance to both pick up a Democratic seat, and gain another moderate Republican to make up for the loss of Rep. Jim Greenwood. Please consider doing all you can to help Melissa Brown as we head into the final stages of this campaign cycle.

Connecticut House Seat (CT-02) – Rob Simmons (incumbent)

A Univ. of CT poll; found Rep. Rob Simmons (R) leads ex-Norwich City Councilmember Jim Sullivan (D) by 38-34%. The margin of error is 4% so Simmons still needs help to keep this highly Democratic seat in Republican hands. Please do all you can for Rob.

New York House Seat (NY-29) – Randy Kuhl (open seat)

The numbers favor State Sen. Randy Kuhl (R): Republicans have a 45 percent to 29 percent edge in voter enrollment. But Democrat Samara Barend is running a smart and aggressive campaign, and the district is fairly distressed economically, which helps the Democrat. Kuhl, "has been endorsed by" the NY and Nat'l AFL-CIO (10/5), but we definitely need to make sure we keep this important Republican seat in New York. So please give what you can.

Pennsylvania House Seat (PA-15) – Charlie Dent (open seat)

An Allentown Morning Call/Muhlenberg College poll; found that state Sen. Charlie Dent (R) leads real estate investment advisor Joe Driscoll (D) by 53-20%. The Philadelphia Inquirer endorsing Dent today: “There are two problems, with Democratic nominee Joe Driscoll. First, he moved to the Lehigh Valley from Lower Merion only a few months ago – well after he won the Democratic primary in April. Second, Driscoll, 40, has no record of public service outside of his successful work in developing abandoned industrial sites. In contrast, his Republican foe, State Sen. Charles W. Dent, has spent nearly all of his 44 years in the Lehigh Valley, and has served nearly 14 years in the General Assembly – eight in the House and six in the Senate. His record as a moderate Republican who supports abortion rights sits well with a majority-Democratic district. … Dent’s record of public service demonstrates not only deep concern for constituents but also that he is best qualified for the office. RMSP has supported Dent and he is in good shape for Nov. 2nd.
