Washington, DC – Today the Republican Main Street Partnership Political Action Committee began airing a radio spot that features RMSP PAC Advisory Board Member Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI) urging Republican voters in Michigan’s Seventh Congressional District to choose John “Joe” Schwarz in the August 3 primary.

 In the 60-second radio ad, Upton, who represents the neighboring Sixth District, highlights Schwarz’s record as a no-nonsense public official who is committed to fiscal responsibility, quality education and affordable health care.

“I've known Joe Schwarz a long time and he's always put policy over politics,” Upton tells Seventh District voters in the ad. “Sometimes politicians don't like to tell the truth. Joe Schwarz has always been a straight shooter, both as a doctor and a public servant.”

 The ad began airing Thursday, July 15 on WRKR-FM (Portage) and WKHM-AM (Jackson) and will run until the August 3 primary. A transcript of the ad is attached. RMSP PAC, which endorsed Schwarz March 26, is a political action committee that supports centrist Republican candidates. This advertisement was created independently of the Schwarz campaign.

 Upton explained that RMSP PAC decided to run pro-Schwarz ads to explain to voters why Schwarz is the best qualified to represent them in the U.S. Congress.

 “Dr. Joe Schwarz has the experience necessary to tackle the difficult issues that are now before Congress,” Upton said.  “Joe's experience serving in the Michigan Senate, the U.S. Navy and as a physician provides him with a wealth of knowledge on key issues - especially health care, education, homeland security and the economy. His leadership would be a great asset to both Michigan and the nation, and RMSP PAC encourages Republicans in the Seventh District to vote for Schwarz August 3rd."

Hey, it's Republican Congressman Fred Upton.

I know many of you are going to be voting in the GOP primary and I want to tell you why I'm supporting Dr. Joe Schwarz for Congress. 

I've known Joe Schwarz a long time, and he's always put policy over politics. 

Sometimes politicians don't like to tell the truth. Joe Schwarz has always been a straight shooter – both as a doctor and a public servant. He believes in public education for every family – he also wants college education to be affordable for working families. 

He's a physician – he knows health care. He also cares about the health of our country and the economy, too.
