Washington , DC – Calling him the best candidate to “terminate” California ’s budget crisis, the Republican Main Street Partnership welcomes Arnold Schwarzenegger’s decision to enter the governor’s race.

“The Republican Main Street Partnership is pleased by Arnold Schwarzenegger’s decision to run for governor of California ,” said Main Street Board Member Rep. Doug Ose (R-CA). “ Main Street believes that Schwarzenegger will provide the strongest leadership and the wherewithal to terminate California ’s budget crisis.”

Main Street is a top supporter of Schwarzenegger’s after-school programs. In 2002, Schwarzenegger spearheaded Proposition 49, a ballot initiative in California to dedicate much as $550 million to before- and after-school programs every year.

California ’s budget has spiraled out of control under the misguided leadership of Gov. Davis,” Ose added. “Schwarzenegger represents California ’s mainstream values and is the GOP’s best chance of restoring fiscal responsibility in Sacramento .”

The Republican Main Street Partnership is the largest group of moderate elected GOP officials in the nation, with over 60 members in the U.S. House and Senate. To learn more about Main Street , visit our website at www.republicanmainstreet.org
