An Ohio congresswoman who belongs to a group of centrist Republicans will campaign for GOP House candidate Larry Diedrich on Wednesday.

Deborah Pryce, the highest-ranking Republican woman in the House of Representatives, will speak at two events for Diedrich.

Pryce belongs to the
Republican Main Street Partnership, a group founded in 1998 "to serve as a voice for centrist Republicans and to partner with individuals, organizations and institutions that share centrist values," according to a statement on its Web site

Pryce, a former judge and prosecutor, was first elected to Congress in 1992. One of her jobs in the House is to track how members will vote on issues and rally members to support or defeat a particular piece of legislation.

Pryce's daughter, Caroline Pryce Walker, was diagnosed with cancer in 1998 and died Sept. 4, 1999, at the age of 9. Pryce and her husband later founded Hope Street Kids, an agency devoted to pediatric cancer research.

Diedrich faces Democratic Rep. Stephanie Herseth in the Nov. 2 general election.
