specter, brown win in pennsylvania

Statement by the Republican Main Street Partnership PAC Advisory Board on Sen. Specter’s and Melissa Brown’s victories in the Pennsylvania GOP primary:

“The Republican Main Street Partnership Political Action Committee is thrilled that Pennsylvania voters ultimately chose the loyal Republican, Senator Arlen Specter, in the GOP primary. Senator Specter’s victory is a win for Pennsylvanians and the entire Republican Party.  By giving him the party’s nod, Pennsylvania Republicans recognized that Specter deserves to be reelected to a fifth term.”

“Once again, the Club for Growth has been handed a defeat by those who really care about the Republican Party. Pat Toomey’s defeat sends a message to the Club for Growth and others who do not abide by President Reagan’s 11th Commandment that this intra-party warfare must come to an end. This race exemplifies how intra-party challenges can fracture and damage the GOP. RMSP PAC urges the Club for Growth and Pat Toomey to rally around Specter. It is time that all Republicans work together to reelect Specter, President Bush and increase our majority in the U.S. Congress.”

“RMSP PAC is thrilled that Melissa Brown won the GOP nod in Pennsylvania’s 13th District. Brown shares the same priorities as both the voters in the district and the centrist wing of the GOP, such as fiscal responsibility, affordable health care and a quality education for all. Brown is a strong candidate to defeat the Democratic nominee in November and RMSP PAC encourages all Republicans to rally around her candidacy.”

The Republican Main Street Partnership PAC is a registered political action committee that supports Republican candidates who are fiscally conservative and take a pragmatic, common-sense approach to social issues. U.S. Reps. Mike Castle (R-DE), Tom Davis (R-VA), Amo Houghton (R-NY), Doug Ose (R-CA) and Fred Upton (R-MI) serve on the advisory board.
