| Washington, DC – Today
the Republican Main Street Partnership Political Action
Committee announced its endorsement of former state Sen.
John “Joe” Schwarz, who is running for Michigan’s Seventh
Congressional District.
“The Seventh District will
send a freshman to the next Congress, but they don't need to
send a rookie,” said RMSP PAC Advisory Board Member Rep. Tom
Davis (R-VA). “Joe Schwarz is a veteran legislator and mayor
who will bring a much-needed perspective to Congress on
health care and lower taxes.”
Dr. Schwarz is an
accomplished public servant and surgeon. A fellow of the
American College of Surgeons, he practices medicine and
surgery in Battle Creek and is on the active staff of the
Battle Creek Health System. He spent four terms in the
Michigan Senate representing the 24th district,
where he rose to the position of President Pro Tempore.
Prior to serving in the legislature, he was the mayor and a
city commissioner for the city of Battle Creek. He also
worked for the CIA and served in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam
and Indonesia.
“The
Republican Main Street Partnership PAC is proud to support
Dr. Schwarz’s campaign for Congress,” added spokeswoman
Sarah Chamberlain Resnick. “If elected, Dr. Schwarz will be
a leader on the issues important to Main Street America,
such as health care, education and the war on terrorism.
Schwarz’s experience as a doctor coupled with his years of
experience in public life makes him an excellent choice for
the U.S. Congress. He has long served the people of Michigan
and is a natural fit to replace Rep. Smith when he retires
at the end of the year.”
