Senator Olympia Snowe has been a champion of centrist issues since her first election to the House in 1978.  The Republican Main Street Partnership has no other leader with the stature and length of support of Senator Snowe.  Seeking her third term in the US Senate, Olympia embodies the principles of moderate Republicanism and champions them every day in the Senate. 

Main Street’s endorsement of Senator Snowe recognizes her strong leadership on a host of key congressional issues.  Senator Snowe is widely recognized as a key leader of Senators willing to work on bi-partisan policy initiatives – a key Main Street principle.   

Main Street founder, former Congressman Amo Houghton praised Senator Snowe, saying “Like the Republican Main Street Partnership, Olympia has worked tirelessly to find common ground when important and potentially divisive issues come before Congress.  Her legislative record, which includes bi-partisan policy initiatives on issues ranging from campaign finance reform to prescription drug coverage is a reflection of her hard work and commitment to the people she represents.

Senator Snowe was a key leader of the centrist Members when she served in the House of Representatives, and continues that leadership in the Senate.
